Stories convey meaning in powerful ways. But how do they do this? Why are they so effective? How does this matter for Christian life and ministry? This course will explore narrative hermeneutics by reading reflections on the conversation between Hans Frei, Paul Ricoeur and David Tracy. This is an upper level seminar course designed to further the text-soul-culture integrative task.

Term Course Description:
This course attempts to provide theoretical foundations for working with primitive mental states in transference regressions. Included in the foundations will be introductory and contemporary thought, including the transition from Freud to Klein. Primary goal will be to stimulate your clinical thinking around your work with yourself with your patients. The first hour will follow a lecture format discussing theoretical content related to the specific articles/chapters, with the second hour to follow with current clinical material.
