Student LIfe at MHGS
At MHGS, Student Life is led and facilitated by students, under the guidance of the Field Abbot, and is crucial in the leadership and direction of the school. We believe that the best way for students to learn the art of leadership is not merely through the obtaining and executing of good information and technique but through embodiment – entering into the wild drama and dance of pursuing life with one another on behalf of others. Students bring to the school a richness of ability and desire. Embracing the fullness of who they are, students are invited to participate and create on behalf of the MHGS Community of Seattle. MHGS student life is a living collage reflecting the vision, interests, passions, and personalities of the students here. “What will we create to bless together?” Student Life is led by students and spouses in one of four realms within Student Leadership: Student Council, Sacred Space, MOSAIC, and Anamchara.
Student leadership
Student leadership is comprised of four realms.
Anamchara: Anamchara embraces the opportunity to bless the MHGS community through hospitality and care. This is done by creating contexts in which relationships can develop and souls can be blessed.
Student Council: Seekings to facilitate faculty/staff/student body relationships, academic excellence, culture, and embodiment of the mission of MHGS.
Mosaic: Mosaic is a group of spouses seeking to invite the wives and husbands of students more fully into the MHGS experience by facilitating a context where their unique needs and passions may be addressed by being in relationship with one another and the larger MHGS community. It’s MHGS as experienced by the men and women who are married to students.
Sacred Space: Sacred Space is MHGS's performing arts and culture driven, multi-media, experimental experiential answer to chapel.
