Application Deadlines
MHGS has four deadlines throughout the academic year and a complete application must be completed prior to the application deadline. All applicants are required to an on-site interview during the designated interview dates below. Rare and special circumstances are exceptions made. The admission deadlines for fall of 2010 are as follows:

Prerequisite
MHGS does not require any courses in order to apply. However, applicants must have earned a four-year baccalaureate degree or its full educational equivalent from a college or university accredited by a U.S. accreditation association holding membership in the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, in the Association of Universities and Colleges in Canada, or from an institution which maintains similar academic requirements and standards.
 
General admission requirements include a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). A list of recommended courses can be found here.

Essays
Application Essays are used for both assessment and placement. Students may be admitted on academic probation and/or required to attend a MHGS Writing Workshop when application essays are deemed unsatisfactory. Application essay topics are included in the application and should be mailed in with a completed application.

References
You will need two references in order to complete your application. MHGS recommends that at least one of your recommendations is academic and other is pastoral, an employer or character references to be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions as part of your application. The forms are included with the downloadable (pdf format) application.

Transcripts
Request official transcripts directly from all of the colleges and universities you have attended. These should be submitted directly from the institution to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Fee
Please submit a $50 non-refundable application fee, payable by cash, check (made out to Mars Hill Graduate School) or money order.
 
GRE/MAT
Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores are required for admission to all MHGS degree programs. Test scores must be less than 2 years old. You must request that The Psychological Corporation send your original test scores to Mars Hill Graduate School. The Mars Hill Graduate School reporting code for the MAT is 2499. For a testing center in your area, call 1-800-622-3231.

Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) test scores may be used to complete the requirement for admission to all MHGS degree programs. The GRE General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills. Scores must be less than 2 years old. You must request that The Educational Testing Service send your original test scores to Mars Hill Graduate School. The Mars Hill Graduate School reporting code for the GRE is 4895. For a testing center in your area, call 1-800-GRE-CALL or find a center and register online at http://etsis4.ets.org/tcenter/

*MHGS does not have a required score for the MAT or GRE.  However if the MAT is below 400 or if the GRE if below **** applicant will be up for review for academic probation.
 
Photo
Please send a recent photo with your application so that we are able to welcome you by name as you arrive.

Financial Aid
The starting point for determining all financial aid is the FAFSA form. It is available in December of each year and should be submitted as early as possible after January 1. Completing the FAFSA does not obligate you to take out a loan. Priority deadline to file is March 1. The Mars Hill Graduate School school code (034664) should be included on the appropriate sections. International Students
MHGS  accepts applications for the fall semester only. You must have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree from an accredited, recognized institution. All admissions items must be received by June 1st prior to the fall semester for which you are applying.

Please note: a pre-application must be completed before your application for admission will be considered.
