What Makes the MACP Unique?
We believe that the strongest tool that a person brings to a counseling or helping relationship is herself or himself. In addition to classroom experiences, the student will participate in four practicums that include counseling training, small group interactions led by faculty members, an opportunity to look at personal matters that impact the student’s ability to counsel effectively, faculty feedback, peer interactions, and individual conversations with practicum facilitators.
Student Profile - Paula Womack

It has often been said this year, my first year in the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program, that we cannot take people therapeutically to places in their lives that we have not gone to ourselves. This first year has been a journey towards seeing myself and others more fully. There is always a cost in knowing one’s self more deeply and in truly seeing others, but therein I have glimpsed the magnitude of what grace is. Along the way, friends, professors and other staff at MHGS have sat with me as I have grappled with what it means to journey into my past and see into my future. It is a powerful thing to be able to sit with someone and be wholly present with them. I am learning how at Mars Hill Graduate School.
